24/7 drinking water project inspected in Coimbatore

Additional Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration and Secretary, Department of Housing, Sivadas Meena today inspected the 24/7 Drinking Water Project in Coimbatore Corporation worth Rs.646.71-crore, including development works worth Rs.62.17-crore under Smart City project in Ukkadam, Periyakulam.


Coimbatore: 24/7 Drinking Water Project in Coimbatore Corporation worth of Rs.646.71-crore including other development works worth Rs.62.17-crore under Smart City project in Ukkadam, Periyakulam were inspected by Additional Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration and Secretary, Department of Housing, Sivadas Meena today.



He ordered the completion of the works with quality quickly, so that they are brought to the use of the public.



The study was spearheaded by Executive Director P. Ponnaiyya and Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer Raja Gopal Sunkara and Tamil Nadu Drinking water Drainage Board Managing Director M. Pradeep Kumar.



They visited and inspected the work of distributing water under 24/7 scheme to 1,240 households in Jayaram Nagar area, Ward No.76, Telugupalayam, South Zone, Coimbatore Corporation.

After inquiring about the current status of the work, Sivadas Meena, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Municipal Administration and Civil Supplies, said, “the 24/7 drinking water project in Coimbatore Corporation is currently under construction at an estimated cost of Rs.646.71-crore. The work to install the residential pipeline should be expedited and completed by the end of August 2023. Officers were instructed to complete these civil project works quickly and efficiently and bring them to the use of the public.”

Following this, Rangappa after inspecting the distribution of drinking water to the houses under the 24/7 scheme on the Kavundar Road, confirmed that the distribution has been done under high pressure.

Later, he inspected the ongoing development works worth Rs.62.17-crore. Sivadas Meena, Additional Chief Secretary and Secretary, Department of Municipal Administration and Civil Supplies, directed the engineers to complete the work and bring it for public use.



During the inspection, Deputy Commissioner of the Corporation Dr. M. Shamila, Executive Engineer Ramasamy, Assistant Commissioner (South) Annathurai, 24/7 drinking water Project Consultant Gopalakrishnan, Corporation Executive Engineers Sasipriya, Umadevi, Senthil Bhaskar and Sundarajan were present.
