1,284 persons fined for violating strict regulations to control coronavirus in Coimbatore district: Coimbatore District SP Selvanagarathinam warns

Temporary checkpoints have been set up at 41 places in Coimbatore district for special vehicle inspections. In addition, 10 four-wheeler patrols and 61 two-wheeler patrols are on duty to track those who roam unnecessarily in public.


Coimbatore: The Central Government has directed the Government of Tamil Nadu to impose necessary restrictions to control coronavirus infection and, if necessary, to take necessary action under Section 144, Criminal Procedure Act, 1973.

Accordingly, new restrictions have been imposed by the Government of Tamil Nadu under the guidance of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to control the spread of coronavirus infection and mutated omicron type coronavirus in Tamil Nadu.

Also, as per Government of Tamil Nadu News Release No. 026, dated 05.01.2022, orders have been issued on preventive measures with relaxation. Accordingly, Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Selva Nagarathinam has formulated a special program to control the spread of coronavirus in Coimbatore district. Under the scheme, a number of measures will be taken to monitor and take legal action against violators of the guidelines across the Coimbatore district and to control the spread of the omicron virus.

Temporary checkpoints have been set up at 41 places in Coimbatore district for special vehicle inspections. In addition, 10 four-wheeler patrols and 61 two-wheeler patrols are on duty to track those who roam unnecessarily in public and those who engage in corona prevention violations. Apart from these, only those who have taken 2 doses of the vaccine, and those who have taken the RTPCR test before 48-hours will be allowed in the 13 checkpoints set up at the state borders in Coimbatore district. About 500 policemen will be involved in the corona prevention work in Coimbatore district.

In addition, 1,284 cases of violation of corona rules have been registered in the last three days alone and a fine of Rs.2,89,800 is imposed.
