Vishnu Prabhu, businessman from Coimbatore has been appointed Papua New Guinea's Trade Commissioner for India in the presence of Tamil Nadu Ministers - Palanivel Thiagarajan and Gingee K.S. Masthan and Papua New Guinea Ambassador Paulis Cornea.
Coimbatore: The meeting of the Indian Pacific Islands Trade Council was held at a star Hotel in Alwarpet in Chennai.
Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan, Minister for Overseas Tamil Welfare and Minority Welfare Gingee K. S. Masthan, Vishnu Prabhu, Papua New Guinea's Commissioner for Trade, Papua New Guinea's Commissioner for India, Paulis Cornea, Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs, Dr. Venkatasalam Murugan were present on the occasion.
During the event Minister Masthan said, "Tamils living abroad should visit Tamil Nadu and consider starting a business here. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is making excellent progress to encourage potential investors. Places to start a business will be provided to Tamils living abroad, who want to start a business in Tamil Nadu. Thr role of expatriate Tamils is essential for the economic development of Tamil Nadu."
Speaking on the occasion, the State Finance Minister stated that global trade relations are essential in the present times. At present, the development of trade relations between India and Papua New Guinea is gratifying. He would do his best to help develop the business relationship, he added.
Speaking to reporters, Indian Trade Commissioner for Papua New Guinea, Vishnu Prabhu thanked Papua New Guinea's Ambassador Paulis Cornea for appointing him as Trade Commissioner for Papua New Guinea.
"I will do my best to improve trade relations between India and Papua New Guinea. Papua New Guinea is rich in gold and natural resources. I will make efforts to trade them in India. I would also try to popularize Indian products in Papua New Guinea", said Vishnu Prabhu, the newly appointed Indian Trade Commissioner for Papua New Guinea.
