In Pollachi, a husband immolates after pouring kerosene in front of his wife due to a family dispute. He is admitted to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he is fighting for life.
Coimbatore: Selvaraj is an auto driver from Thondamuthur village near Pollachi. His wife is Sunita and the couple has a 13-year old son.
It is said that the couple has been living apart for the last 7 years due to a disagreement between the husband and wife. It is reported that Selvaraj used to ask Sunita, from time to time to take care of the family.
This morning, Selvaraj went to a mixer shop in the Suleeswaranpatti area where Sunita works and apparently invited his wife home. When she refused, before her, he doused himself with kerosene from the can which he had carried along with him and self immolated.
He climbed into the auto screaming as his body charred. In the impact, the auto also caught fire. Later, the public rescued Selvaraj and sent him to the Pollachi Government Hospital.

After receiving first aid treatment there, he was rushed to Coimbatore Government Hospital for further treatment in a life-threatening condition.
East police have registered a case and are investigating his wife Sunita. The incident where the husband attempted suicide by self immolation in front of wife has caused a great stir in the area.
