Seven homes in tea estate flats in the old Valparai estate area near Valparai caught fire and are damaged. Inmates escaped unharmed. Fire fighters were called in, to put out the blaze.
Coimbatore: Natarajan's house caught fire at around 10.45 pm in the old Valparai estate area near Valparai in Coimbatore district. The inmates rushed out of the house, as the fire started to spread. Neighbours were panic-stricken.
The blaze spread to other nearby houses and engulfed everything that came in its way.
However, no casualties are reported, as the alert inmates fled from their homes in the nick of time, leaving their belongings behind.
Within a short span of time, homes of Rajendran, Nataraj, Suresh, Kanaka, Nanjan Ali, Najimuthi and Mala Hussain caught fire.
Upon information, the police and fire brigade arrived at the scene to put out the fire. Everything in the homes are reduced to ashes. The TV, bed, kitchen utensils, clothes, fridge, washing machine, school certificate and Aadhar card are all completely damaged. Fire fighters fought for about two hours to extinguish the fire.
Valparai police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
