30-sovereigns gold and one lakh cash stolen from a house by breaking open the door when the family was away to perform the last rites of a family member in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Thieves broke into a house near Karumathampatti and looted 30-sovereigns gold and one lakh cash when the woman and her family were away to perform the last rites of her husband.
Shyamala and her family visited their hometown Palladam last Saturday. Her husband Narayanan, (57), of Thatiyankadu Street, Karumathampatti Krishnapuram, died of illness last month.
When they returned to Karumathampatti this morning, they were shocked to find the door of the house open. When they went inside, they saw the wardrobe in the bedroom was broken. It was found that 30-sovereigns of gold jewellery and 1-lakh rupees were missing. It was revealed that the unidentified persons who had watched the Shyamala family going out of town had entered the house and looted.
The matter was reported to the Karumathampatti police station. Police led by Pandiyarajan arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation. They recorded all the evidence and police are investigating those involved in the robbery. They are also investigating if they have been indulged in crimes repeatedly.
