The couple lives with family in Tirupur Veerapandi, Pazhathottam area. Tirupati has been working for the knitwear company.

His son Charan (18) was studying in the first year of B-Pharm (Medical) at a private college in Coimbatore.
He was in love with his distant relative Vinitha (18) from Gandharvakottai, Pudukkottai district. She, too, was in her first year of BA. Vinita left her house last month and the two got married. The two have been living in a house in Tirupur Iduvampalayam area in hiding.
Meanwhile, Charan has posted on Instagram that he is getting married. Seeing this, Charan's sister invited both of them home. Vinita's father Veeramuthu had lodged a complaint at the Gandarvakottai police station that his daughter was missing after the two went to Charan's house.
Charan's family has been summoned for questioning in connection with the case. Charan's father promised to get them married after their studies and he left for Pudukottai. Charan and Vinitha, who thought they were causing trouble for their family, committed suicide by hanging themselves when no one was at home, assuming that the two would be separated.

Charan's mother, who returned from work, was shocked to find that the two had committed suicide. People nearby heard her screams and informed the police. Veerapandi police rushed to the spot, seized the bodies and sent them to Tirupur Government Medical College Hospital for examination. The letter written by Charan was found during a search of the house when the bodies were seized. It said, "It's wrong that we fell in love. All the problems are caused by us and we do not know what else to do."

The note also mentioned handing over Vinitha's body to her family. Following this, a case of suicide has been registered and an investigation is underway.
