Coimbatore: District Collector Sameeran inspected the Coimbatore-Walayar check post on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border today and supervised the work of verifying the documents of those travelling from Kerala to Tamil Nadu via Coimbatore.
He was later interviewed by reporters. “About 99 per cent of those coming from Kerala across the Tamil Nadu border are vaccinated.
Passengers who arrive without being vaccinated and without a coronavirus test are sent back.” he informed.
“Permission is granted only after body temperature tests have been noted. There will be intensive surveillance in the border areas during the entire curfewm without relaxation on Sundays.” the district collector said. He added that the general public should avoid going for leisure and tourism during the curfew.

In Coimbatore district, the first dose is complete in 96 per cent of the population, and 78 per cent have received the second dose, he said. He said infrastructure in Coimbatore is ready to tackle coronavirus 3rd wave and necessary bed facilities have been provided.
