Tirupur District Preparatory Conference was hosted at a private wedding hall in Tirupur on Friday. All trade unions including AITUC, CITU, LPF, and MLF were present at the meeting. Resolutions including the anti-workers law should be dropped, the abandoning privatization of public sectors, the increase in yarn prices, the GST hike should be abandoned and reduction of excise duty on petrol were passed.
A nationwide general strike will be upstaged on February 23rd and 24th, which will press for 12 set of demands, including curbing the price rise of all goods and condemning the Modi led, BJP government. A demonstration in Tirupur will be held on the scheduled dates.
