Railway Sub-Inspector Murugan and police rushed to the spot as elderly man was found dead on the tracks. The body of the deceased was recovered and sent to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy.
Coimbatore: An unidentified old man was killed by a train near Coimbatore. Coimbatore Railway Police received information that a 55-year-old man was hit by a train near Peelamedu on the Coimbatore Irugur railway track and was killed.

Inquiry is on to establish his identity and his whereabouts. It is also being determined if the man died while attempting to cross the tracks or did he jump off the moving train and committing suicide.
