Women's Court Judge Nandini Devi sentenced Vimalraj and Karthik to 20 years imprisonment each and a fine of Rs.5,000 each for assaulting a woman and raping her. Karthik is wanted by the police as the accused has not appeared in court.
Coimbatore: A Coimbatore women's court has sentenced two men to 20 years in prison each for raping a divorced woman in Pollachi, Coimbatore.
A 28-year-old woman from Pollachi Vadugapalayam area in Coimbatore district is living with her second husband. In this case, in 2016, the woman was taken away in an auto rickshaw by her family friends Vimalraj and Karthik, claiming that her husband had called her.
At that time, they attacked the woman in the bush near the Puthu Mariamman temple on the way to Vadugapalayam and raped her. As the case was being heard in the Coimbatore Women's Court, pro-government lawyer Zisha appeared for the final hearing of the case.
