The Thudiyalur police are investigating the death of a mother-daughter duo in the city in which the mother hanged herself to death after poisoning her mentally-ill daughter.

Dhanalakshmi, (53), a resident of Appanayakenpalayam Park City area near Thudiyalur lost her husband a few days back. Sasikumar, (34), is her son Sukanya, (31), was her daughter who was mentally-ill. Sasikumar is an IT professional living with his wife in Saravanampatti.
Reportedly, Dhanalakshmi was upset by a soothsayer’s prediction two nights ago, that the house will face issues if the family does not make amends. He probably also added that the son would also have trouble. A worried Dhanalakshmi poisoned her daughter Sukanya and hung herself.
Unable to reach his mother, Sasikumar requested the neighbours to look into the house. Sasikumar rushed to the spot and lodged a complaint with the Thudiyalur police on finding his family dead.
Accordingly, inspector Annam of the women's police station came to the spot and recovered the body and is investigating. The incident has created a stir in the area.
