Tamil Nadu Rural Overhead Tank Operators Sanitary Staff Association, Chairman of the District Collector recommended to the Chief Minister that Rs.15,000 incentives given to the Corporation employees, doctors and nurses who worked in the Corporation during the outbreak of the virus, should not be available to the overhead tank operators. More than 30 petitioned the Coimbatore District Collector's Office.
With the decision to hold a state-wide fast across Tamil Nadu today, it has been decided to reconsider the hunger strike with confidence in the government as the first assembly session of this year is being held. Before Pongal, they demanded that the Tamil Nadu government provide assistance by providing incentives.
They also requested that the District Collector bring their request to the attention of the Chief Minister for assistance. They stated that more than 500 employees working in the rural areas would benefit from this.
