In the Kodanad murder cum heist case, the Special Team led by IG Sudhakar will conduct further investigations on accused no.10 at the Police Training Centre in the city on the 7th and 8th of January.
Coimbatore: In the Kodanad murder cum heist case, the Special Team led by IG Sudhakar will conduct further investigations to accused no.10 at the Police Training Centre in the city on the 7th and 8th of January.
Two of the accused in Kodanad case who are currently on bail have been summoned to appear in person for questioning. The interrogations will be done by the special team led by IG Sudhakar at the Police Training Ground in Coimbatore. Accused no.10 Jithin Joy will be questioned on 7th of January while, Udhaykumar will be appearing for questioning on the 8th.
The murder and robbery took place in 2017 at an estate in Kodanad next to Kotagiri in Nilgiris district. Ten persons, including Sayan, were arrested in connection with the case and the accused are out on bail currently.
The case began a rehearing since August last year, with five special teams formed exclusively for the case. The teams split and interrogated several people. The prime accused Sayan, Kodanad estate manager Natarajan, Samsir Ali, Manojsamy and prosecution witnesses were questioned. Over 150 people have been questioned so far and gathered various sources, including employees working in the estate. The owner of the car used in the robbery was interrogated as well.
Inspector General of Western Region Sudhakar also visited in person and conducted an inquiry. The team subsequently arrested Kanakaraj's brother Dhanapal and cousin Ramesh for destroying evidence and dispersing the evidence on Kanakaraj’s mobile, who was killed in an accident.
Dhanapal and Ramesh were interrogated under several phases and the investigations, which been carried out so far at the Ooty SP office is currently being conducted by IG Sudhakar at the inquiry office in Coimbatore police training center premises for administrative reasons.
Intense investigations are being carried out, and Sasikala’s nephew Vivek Jayaraman was summoned by the team and was questioned on the 22nd at the police training center. Inspector General of Western Region Sudhakar and the Police conducted an investigation.
Vivek Jayaraman’s statements has been recorded in the investigation and now the police have again intensified the Kodanad investigation. The next phase of the investigation will have the questioning of the 10th accused, Jitin Joy and Udayakumar.
The duo have been summoned and ordered to appear in person at the Coimbatore police training center on 7th and 8th. Jitin Jay will be questioned on the 7th and another accused Udayakumar were will be interrogated on the 8th. Police are conducting investigations under the leadership of Sudhakar.
Questions on their connection with the case, the execution of the murder and heist will be made.
