The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has ordered to provide electricity connection to the farmers who have applied in the normal order at present for the applications pending till 2013.
Coimbatore: The farmers have demanded that the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission should immediately provide electricity connections to the farmers who have applied for agricultural electricity connection.
State General Secretary of the Non-Party Farmers Association Kandasamy said, farmers across Tamil Nadu have been waiting for the last 20 years to apply for agricultural electricity connection. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has ordered to provide electricity connection to the farmers who have applied in the regular order at present for the applications pending till 2013.
He also directed to provide electricity connection to the pending applications till 2018 in the pending applications under the self-funded e-scheme. Farmers who applied for the self-financed scheme till 2010 had no water in the bore well at the time of application.
The Electricity Board refuses to provide electricity connection to a tube well with a different survey number in the name of the same farmer. As per the order of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission, the survey number can be changed only for the farmers registered in the regular order and there is a way to provide electricity connection. The same should be provided for self-funding and it needs to be delivered quickly.
