Coimbatore: Karthik (38) is from Nallattipalayam Boyar Colony near Kinathukadavu, Sarath (14) was his son.
The boy was studying in class VIII at Kinathukadavu Government High School.
This morning, Sarath, was riding pillion, on a two-wheeler, with his cousin Gurusami (19). The cousins were on their way to visit a relative in the Aranmanaipudur area.
The two-wheeler stumbled when it went under the Mullupadi railway overpass and Gurusami applied the brake. Sarath, who was riding pillion, fell from the two-wheeler and sustained serious head injuries. The injured were rushed to Pollachi Government Hospital by ambulance.
But, schoolboy Sarath died on the way to the hospital. The injured Gurusami is admitted to the government hospital and is undergoing treatment.
Kinathukadavu police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
