Coimbatore: The building construction worker who sexually harassed and killed a 14-year-old girl in Saravanampatti has been charged under the Goondas Act on Monday.
A tenth grader from Sivanandapuram next to Saravanampatti in Coimbatore was killed on the 13th of December, 2021 by her mother’s boyfriend. The girl’s decomposed corpse was found in a sack near a garbage dump in the Yamuna Nagar area after her mother and the murderer lodged a missing complaint about the girl.
Police investigations revealed that the girl was raped and killed by Muthukumar, (44), a construction worker from the same area. Muthukumar and the deceased’s mother had disputes over jewellery transactions that led to the girl’s murder. However, all the while Muthukumar was plotting to twist the blame on others.
Serious investigations led to the arrest of Muthukumar. He was produced before the court and was lodged in Coimbatore central prison. The police recommended that Muthukumar be charged under the Goondas Act.
Accordingly, the action was taken against Muthukumar under the Goondas Act on Monday.
