Kanishka (6), daughter of Raman from the Valyankadu area of Tirupur had been suffering from intense fever for the past few days. The girl was earlier admitted to a private hospital in the city and was shifted to the Tirupur GH upon being diagnosed with dengue fever.
The girl was later admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital on December 30, for further treatment. Kanishka who was treated in the special dengue ward tragically succumbed to the infection.
In another dengue-related case, Ganesan (38) from Ellapalayam near Annur in Coimbatore district was admitted to Coimbatore Government Hospital on Sunday after contracting dengue fever. He too succumbed to the infection despite being treated.
