The vaccination process for age group 15-18 has begun in the state on Monday after CM inaugurates the process and the drives subsequently begin in the city as Collector GS Sameeran started the works this morning in which 16,000 students will be vaccinated on the first day.

The vaccination process for age group 15-18 has begun in the state on Monday after CM inaugurates the process and the drives subsequently begins in the city as Collector GS Sameeran started the works this morning and Corporation Commissioner Rajagopal Sunkara at the Government Aided Higher Secondary School at Papanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore.
The District Collector met the press and stated, “1.61-lakh students will benefit in the vaccine drive in the city and the vaccines will be given at 671 schools. On the first day, 16,000 students are being vaccinated in 81 centers.”
Adding that only one person has been diagnosed with Omicron in Coimbatore and is currently isolated at home after treatment. It is proposed to increase restrictions here due to the spread of infection. Samples from 19 people who travelled abroad were collected and none of them were diagnosed with Omicron.
The collector warned that strict action will be taken if there is a violation of the corona code and schools are advised to give leave only if any student falls ill after vaccination.
Sameeran also added that a few places have been identified as hot spots for dengue and surveillance has been intensified in those areas. Mosquito control measures have been intensified in the district. To date, 33 people are being treated for dengue here. While arrangements have been made to hold Jallikattu in Coimbatore, he stated that they were waiting for the state government's guidance on conducting the contest with covid guidelines.
