The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will be inaugurating the distribution of Pongal Package in the state today and the supply will start from Tuesday, 4th January to the ration card holders.
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will be inaugurating the distribution of the Pongal Package in the state today and the supply will start from Tuesday, 4th January to the ration card holders in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore city and the entire state will be receiving the Tamil Nadu Government’s Pongal Gift Pack starting the 4th of January 2022, which the Chief Minister will be inaugurated today.
The Government of Tamil Nadu announced that 2.15-crore ration cardholders will be receiving a package of Pongal Items,with 21 items including rice, wheat, jaggery, ghee, and sugarcane on the occasion of the festival. Goods including groceries procured for this purpose are being sent from Civil Supplies Corporation godowns to ration shops.
Arrangements have also been made to procure sugarcane from the farmers. The ration employees have been involved in distributing tokens to the cardholders door-to-door to avoid crowding during times of the pandemic.
Due to heavy rains in various districts including Chennai for two days, the package scheme items stocked in ration shops have been covered with tarpaulin and preserved.
The officers have stated that no cash allowance will be given with the package due to financial difficulties, while the public was expecting an announcement to provide at least Rs 1,000 with the package.
