Rajasthan textile shop owner gathers crowd claiming to be selling cloth worth Rs 1,000 at half price in Palladam, Tirupur district
Tirupur: The Government of Tamil Nadu is taking various precautionary and preventive measures to ensure that the public is not affected by the increase in the spread of coronavirus and the increase in Omicron variant in 2022 in Tamil Nadu.
As part of this, shopping malls, shops, textile shops and theatres are functioning with 50 per cent of customers. Only online education in schools will be allowed for Class I to VIII, according to the Government prescribed guidelines.
Various restrictions are imposed on gyms and only a limited number of people are permitted to attend mourning events. Against the backdrop of this, Sri Krishna Silks textile shop owned by Vikram from Rajasthan opposite Government Hospital, Palladam-Coimbatore-Trichy National Highway, Palladam, operated in violation of these rules of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
The opened the store with a band playing Kerala Chenda music and the business was in full swing as it offered free cotton candy and balloons to attract customers, especially children.
It should be noted that many of the customers did not wear face masks, disinfectant was not provided, social distancing was not followed, and the business was conducted in blatant violation of government regulations.
Social activists say that while many in Palladam are following the precautionary measures issued by the Tamil Nadu government, it is illegal for a clothing store run by Vikram, a Rajasthani man, to operate illegally in violation of the ban. They added that people will not only buy clothes, but also will take home Covid-19 at discounted price.
Meanwhile, Palladam Municipality Health Inspector Prakash and his staff rushed to the spot, observed the situation and questioned the shop owner and staff.
Officials also warned that if the shop was not removed from tomorrow, it would have to get proper permission from the municipality, remove the shop encroaching platform. Officials said that the owner must allow only 50 per cent of the customers, spray disinfectant and make wearing of masks mandatory for the customers.
