Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Electricity and Prohibition Minister Senthil Balaji today inaugurated various works under the Road Infrastructure Project in Coimbatore.
Renovation of tar road at Ward No. 95, 85, 92, 99 in the South Zone (West Garden, Thirumarai Nagar, BK Puthur Main Road, Kuppannan Garden) at a cost of 187.2-lakh, in Ward No. 75 (New Poise Garden, Apple Garden) in the East Zone. 87.1-lakh worth of tar road and Ward No. 14 (Bhuvaneswari Nagar) in the West Zone at a cost of Rs. 43.50-lakh.
He was speaking to reporters between the inauguration ceremonies. He shared that there is no GST on electricity in Tamil Nadu. As per the rule, from 2018, GST is to be levied only on other fees including application fee. He said OPS had left a notice that it is currently being charged by mistake.
He added that various parts of Coimbatore were neglected during the last regime. Not only garbage bins but also garbage trucks in the corporation have been defaulted. He said 1-lakh 44-thousand petitions have been received. He informed that people can know what the DMK has done in these eight months.
The District Collector was accompanied by the Corporation Commissioner at the inaugural event.
