All parties went door-to-door to protest against the new TASMAC liquor outlet that is to be set up near Corporation School at Parapalayam on Tirupur Mangalam Road and staged a demonstration.
Politicians and the public from the area were informed that the authorities were working on setting up a new TASMAC outlet near Corporation School at Parapalayam in the new 42nd ward of Tirupur Corporation. Former AIADMK councillor Anbagam Tirupati, BJP campaign committee president Subburaj, regional general secretary Selvam, regional deputy chairman Deivendran, area corporation secretary Parthiban on behalf of DMDK, Deivendran, Ganesh, Maharaj, Tamil Nadu Congress Muruganantham, Welding Sukumar, Parapalayam Middle School PTA president Govindraj and treasurer Suresh were present at the protest site.
They gathered with the public and issued notices in Parapalayam and Thirunagar areas protesting against the setting up of the outlet at the location.
Former councillor Anbagam Tirupati said, "It has been reported that TASMAC is setting up a liquor store near Middle School in Parapalayam and near Magali Amman Temple. The liquor selling outlet’s presence near school premises will create issues for the students, women using the bus stop, and the public in the residential area. Therefore, an outlet should not be set up in this place.”
A petition was submitted to the Tirupur TASMAC regional officer and the police. He added that a protest was already held in 42nd ward along with the public and the liquor shop was removed. A petition has been given to the concerned department to remove the TASMAC liquor shop no.1927. The area is densely populated with residences and workers. He also mentioned that a huge agitation will be held if steps are not taken.
