Coimbatore: The Hindu Munnani State President, Kadeswara Subramaniam has condemned the TN government’s announcement of temples being open at 12 midnight in the state for the new year.
Kadeshwara Subramaniam, Hindu Munnani State President has expressed objection to Hindu temples being open after 12 midnight on New Year. He said,
'The Hindu temples have separate cults and customs, where Pujas are done with varied timings. The Hindu Charitable Endowments Minister Shekhar Babu has declared no restrictions for the devotees to visit temples after 12 am. Temples are open at night only on days like Shivratri and Vaikunta Ekadesi.'
Condemning the move, he has called for a ban on the English New Year Celebration, which distorts Tamil culture and practices.
The Hindu Front has appealed to the government and demanded the withdrawal of the announcement.
