An award function, Sirpi Literary Awards was held in Pollachi on the occasion of the 85th birth anniversary of poet, Sirpi Balasubramaniam, lyricist Yugabharathi was felicitated.
Pollachi: On the occasion of the 85th birth anniversary of poet, Sirpi Balasubramaniam Sirpi Literary Awards, an awards function, was held in Pollachi in which, Lyricist Yugabharathi was felicitated.
“Honor killings continue to happen in Tamilnadu though law permits priests from all caste”, stated Suba Veerapandian speaking at the Sirpi Literary Awards held in Pollachi, in honor of the 85th birth anniversary of poet Sirpi Balasubramaniam.

At the Award Ceremony that was hosted at the NGM College, Pollachi, film lyricist Yugabharathi was conferred with the Sirpi Literature Award. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Chairman Krishnaraj Vanavarayar presided over the function.
Speaking at the function, Tamil Nadu Government Social Justice Monitoring Committee Chairman Suba Veerapandian stated that with the law permitting priests from all castes, it is impossible to say that there is no social justice revolution. However, with honor killings still happening, social justice is not completely spread in society.
Criticizing Minister Rajendra Balaji, he stated that the police were looking for the men who held significant positions in Tamilnadu by setting up 8 special teams.
“Bribery, caste, and religious fanaticism are still prevailing in this society. Revolution must surface in the mind at peace and what changes this society will be the real revolution, which shall be brought by creators alone.”

Speaking at the function, the director of the film ‘Jaibhim’, Gnanavel said that poetry should be full of language and consciousness and which lyricist Yugabharathi depicts. Director Gnanavel said, "I made it possible for people to witness Bharathiar’s ideologies of social justice in Jaibhim which went unnoticed but was criticized by others.”
