Police arrests drug peddlers who were selling ganja targeting college students from various pockets in the city.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore Peelamedu police led by Inspector Rajkumar were on patrol. At that time, they caught the youths who were standing suspiciously near the private college in the Avarampalayam road area and conducted a search.
It was revealed that they had ganja packets for sale. Further investigations revealed that the arrested persons are Marshall (28) son of Anandan from Kanyakumari district, Eeswaran (25) son of Murugesan from Gampaha, Theni district and Vallarasu (23) son of Eeswaran from Uthamapalaiyam, Theni district.
The three had taken a room on rent in the Cheran Managar area in Peelamedu, Coimbatore. It was revealed that they smuggled ganja from Theni district and sold it to college students here. Police seized 2.450-kg of ganja from them, arrested the three and remanded them in custody.
Similarly, Singanallur police led by Sub-Inspector Baskaran were on patrol. They inspected a person standing suspiciously in the Irugur area and found that he had packets of ganja. Investigations revealed that Sivakumar (25) is the son of Senthilkumar from the same area. Police confiscated 240-grams of ganja from him and put him behind bars.
Similarly, the Big Bazaar street police led by Sub-Inspector Chinnathurai were on patrol. Then caught a man standing suspiciously on the Ukkadam bypass Road and conducted a search. It has come to light that he sold ganja. During interrogation, it was revealed that he is Abdul Qadir (28) son of Mohammad Ali, a resident of Kottaimedu area.
The District Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore has warned of strict action against those involved in such illegal activities. The Superintendent has stated that the public shall contact the District Police Control Room through the number 94981-81212 or on WhatsApp Number 77081-00100 to inform about those involved in such illegal activities. The informants details shall be confidential, assures the SP.
