Coimbatore: Against the backdrop of growing concerns of spread of the Omicron variant in the state, the City Corporation has warned that action will be taken against those who violate government announced restrictions on New Year.
Corporation officials have warned of strict action against the hostels and restaurants violating corona rules during New Year celebrations. With the spread of omicron infection across the country, on the spike, the District Administration, Corporation and Health Department have implemented precautionary measures to prevent the spread of omicron infection in Coimbatore.
A corporation official stated, “International travellers are mandatorily isolated for 7-days and are contacted daily by the Health Department officials of the Corporation to provide assistance and awareness. On the occasion of New Year, it has been advised to wear mask and follow social distancing in private hostels and restaurants, as crowd is expected.”
The corporation officer also added that penalties and sealing measures will be taken against those violating the norms. Five committees are formed, at the rate of one group, per zone, to monitor people. The committees have been conducting a review and imposing penalties on the violators.
