A depressed college student after being reprimanded by a teacher attempted suicide. His friends rescued him and admitted him to the Palladam Government Hospital for treatment. There he was given first aid and then sent to a private hospital in Palladam for further treatment.
Tirupur: Shankar, (44), is from Sedapalayam area near Palladam in Tirupur district. He runs a welding workshop and lives with his wife Padma and son Kasi Viswanathan (18).
Kasiviswanathan from Palladam is studying second year Tamil Literature at Government Arts College, Mangalam Road. Kasiviswanathan went to college as usual this morning and is said to have written obscene words on a blank piece of paper during a model test held there.
It is reported that the head of the department Bala Murugan snatched the paper from the student and chased him out of the college. The student, who was disturbed after the incident, bought a bottle of poison from a roadside pesticide store, drank it and informed his friends about it through his cell phone.
