The city police have arrested a migrant worker and one other for selling ganja illegally, based on a secret tip-off shared with the District Superintendent.
Coimbatore: The city police arrested two men for peddling ganja in Pasur area in Annur, Coimbatore.
A large number of factories function in Pasur village near Annur in Coimbatore district. Numerous migrant workers working in these factories are targeted in sale of ganja. Based on a mysterious tip-off received by the District SP Selvanagarathinam on illegal sale of banned ganja, the Annur Inspector of Police Nithya led her team for an intensive patrol.
Two persons including a migrant worker from Odisha were interrogated under suspicions at the police station. Upon questioning them, it had come to light that Balamurugan of Paramakudi and Lokpal Maganandha of Odisha were involved in illegal sale of ganja. The police arrested them and seized six kg of ganja and Rs 3,000 in cash from them.
The Annur police produced the duo before the court and jailed them.
It is noteworthy that peddlers are frequently being arrested for illegal sale of the ganja in Annur area.

The Superintendent has stated that the public shall contact the District Police Control Room through the number 94981-81212 or on WhatsApp Number 77081-00100 to inform about those involved in such illegal activities. The informants details shall be confidential, assured the SP.
