Coimbatore: The Electricity Minister performed the Bhumi puja for laying roads under the TURIP at an outlay of ₹.6-crores in Coimbatore.

The Tamil Nadu Electricity, Prohibition, and Excise Minister Senthil Balaji inaugurated 54 tar road works at an estimated cost of ₹.6.01-crore for a distance of 14.85-km under Tamil Nadu Urban Roads Infrastructure Project (TURIP) in Coimbatore by performing Bhoomi Puja.

Inaugurating the road works, the Minister said, “10 road works are in progress in the city area at a cost of ₹.6-crores which will soon be complete.”

Adding that the road renovation works were not done in the last regime, he mentioned about public’s petitions during Makkal Sabhas on the poor roads and the lack of re-laying of roads dug for underground sewer.

Road laying works worth ₹.6-crores have been commenced to begin with, and subsequently, roads will be developed throughout the city. He informed that the slackening of flyover works in Coimbatore was due to the cases in the court and the government is in talks with those who are filing the case.
