Natives live in fear of a lone elephant that was spotted near Vellingiri foothills

Isha Foundation is located in Saadivayal at the foothills of Velliangiri Mountains. People from the nearby village noticed a male elephant standing in the same place near a rivulet in Muttahuvayal village for a long time.

On receiving information about this elephant, forest department officials visited this location. They conducted a meeting and discussed the safe ways of sending the elephant back into the forest.  Forest officials and veterinarian also examined the elephant to determine if the tusker suffered any health issues.

The forest department officials have decided to drive the elephant into the forests tonight. It is said that the elephant might be standing in the same place due to the obstruction caused by the illegal constructions at the Isha Foundation. As two elephants have died in the Coimbatore forest ranges in two days, this incident has instilled fear among the Mutathuvayal villagers. People have requested the forest department officials to prevent the elephant from entering the villages once it starts moving from its current location.
