Coimbatore: On the orders of the District Commissioner, Deepak Damor and DGP Sylendra Babu, a storming operation was conducted in 15 police station limits in Coimbatore district, beginning on Thursday night at 10 pm.
Elusive culprits involved in peddling drugs, illegal sale of liquor and lottery tickets were finally trapped.
The operation which continued till 4 am on Friday morning were conducted in various areas like the railway station, lodges around the railway station, Gandhipuram bus stand, lodges nearby and lodges near the airport. The police squad nabbed culprits red-handed even as they were illegally selling drugs, liquor, ganja, as well as those on parole and bail in murder cases.
More than 25 teams led by Inspectors conducted raids at major check posts in Coimbatore and passengers from other states were checked as well. The sudden operation resulted in trapping criminals who were under hiding for several crimes.
