The COVID-19 ward already has 38 CCTV cameras. Currently, an additional 25 cameras are installed to help monitor patient movement and to help solve disputes with hospital staff.
Coimbatore: Dean Nirmala said the Coronavirus ward at Coimbatore Government Hospital was equipped with an additional 25 CCTV cameras.
The Coimbatore Government Hospital receives more than 5,000 visitors daily not only from the city but also from various districts including Tirupur, Erode, Karur and the Nilgiris. The Coronavirus ward operates in three wards of the hospital, the Intensive Care Unit, the Old Paralysis Unit and the Mahavir Building.
Of this, 120 normal beds, 372 oxygen beds and 68 intensive care unit beds have been set up to treat coronavirus patients. An additional 25 CCTV cameras will be installed in the coronavirus wards to monitor the coronavirus patients receiving treatment and attendants.
Hospital Dean Nirmala said, “There are more than 100 CCTV cameras in various places, from the entrance to the hospital to the first main sections. In the Coronavirus wards, meanwhile, it had 38 cameras. Currently, an additional 25 cameras have been installed to prevent people receiving treatment for the infection from going outside and gathering inside the ward. They will also help monitor activities such as disputes with doctors."
