Amul Kandasamy won as the District Councillor in the third ward comprising 15 panchayats in Annur union. He also was elected as the MLA for Valparai.

Ward 3 has 59,201 voters of which 28,477 are male and 30,724 are female. 100 checkpoints have been set up and the last time this ward had elections, the DMK-Congress alliance failed to win. Hence, it is unknown if DMK or Congress will compete in this ward, this time round.
