Mettupalayam - Coimbatore passenger train should be operated again: MP A. Raja's request to Union Railway Minister!

Passenger train service from Mettupalayam to Coimbatore was running 5 times a day. But the first train service was cancelled in March last year due to coronavirus infection.


Coimbatore: In the Coimbatore district, the train service played an important role in the daily commute of people to Mettupalayam and treatment at government hospitals. For these, the passenger train service from Mettupalayam to Coimbatore was running 5 times a day. But the first train service was cancelled in March last year due to coronavirus infection. There was also a passenger train from Mettupalayam to Coimbatore. Due to this people were facing various hardships.

It was demanded that the service be activated immediately. It was also stressed that this should be rectified immediately as all the buses are being diverted due to flyover works on Mettupalayam Road. The Central Railway Ministry had said that it was looking into the matter. Meanwhile, Nilgiris MP A.Raja has sent a letter to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav urging to continue operation and people of Mettupalayam want to continue the long-running Mettupalayam to Coimbatore passenger train and also to reduce fares from Rs. 30 to Rs. 10. People are hopeful that appropriate action will be taken soon.
