Idols placed in homes are allowed to be immersed in lakes
Coimbatore: With Covid cases gradually increasing in the city, State Government and the Coimbatore Corporation imposed a ban on public celebration of Vinayagar Chathurthi.

Permissions were granted for worship and rituals in private spaces. Public are now provided permission to immerse the idols in the lakes, provided they follow protocols.
48 water bodies in and around Coimbatore are being cleaned and prepared for idol immersion. Visitors are advised to wear masks and maintain social distancing.

Fire department officials collect the idols and immerse them in water in order to restrict crowding.
