Tirupur Exporters Association President assures that industries in Tirupur will follow all Covid-19 stipulations.
Coimbatore: Out of 6,00,000 employees in export units in Tiruppur, 3,00,000 have been vaccinated thus far.
"The first and second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic was a heavy blow for us and the workers. The constant efforts of the Government has curbed the spread of the pandemic. Out of 6,00,000 employees, 3,00,000 lakh have been successfully vaccinated. The slight shortage of vaccines last week has been handled and there are special allotments for vaccines this week.
We are going to work hand-in-hand with the Government to make sure that all employees in Tirupur get their second doses and keep the pandemic at bay. With the export season beginning from September 1, we hope to recover from this year's crisis and return to normalcy and ensure we follow all safety norms," assured Raja M Shanmugam, Head, Tirupur Exporters Association.
Sakthivel, Public Relations Officer, Murugan Textiles, Palladam, Tiruppur District said, "75,000 workers in Palladam were administered their first dose of vaccine against Covid-19.Of these, 25,000 workers have also been administered the second dose of vaccination. Soon, all industries will work with the Government to administer both doses of vaccine to all the workers. It is a promising sign that all industries have slowly resumed work after the impact of the pandemic outbreak.”
Thus far, 90,828 people have been infected with Covid-19 in Tirupur and 89,126 have recovered. 933 deaths have been recorded and 769 patients are undergoing treatment to fight Covid-19.
