Hindu Makkal Katchi Tamilagam petitions District Collector seeking permission to take Vinayagar Chaturthi idols in procession from temples and houses onto streets

About 20 people led by Arjun Sampath, the leader of the Hindu Makkal Katchi Tamilagam entered the District Collectorate chanting slogans to petition the District Collector.


Coimbatore: All districts in Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore have been banned from celebrating Vinayagar Chaturthi publicly.

Following this, at a public grievance day meeting held at the Coimbatore District Collectorate, District Collector G S Sameeran received petitions by public and Hindu organizations.



About 20 people led by Arjun Sampath, the leader of the Hindu Makkal Katchi Tamilagam entered the District Collectorate chanting slogans and submitted a petition to the District Collector.

The petition states, "Vinayagar idols should be consecrated in public places and temples all over Tamil Nadu and permission should be given to take processions and celebrate the Vinayaka Chaturthi festival and visarjan. We are ready to cooperate fully with the Government of Tamil Nadu to make the festival a success by following the safetyconditions and preventive measures. So we kindly ask you to give us permission to celebrate Vinayagar Chaturthi safely."
