Mobile bus exhibition, and various events to be conducted for one year. Request for statue and naming of various places after VOC on the cards in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Minister for Food and Consumer Protection Department, R.Chakrabani paid his tributes to the Tamil Helmsman, V.O.Chidambaram Pillai today.
He flagged off the mobile bus exhibition carrying V.O.C’s legacies.
The bus will cover the Government schools and colleges. Talking to the press, the Minister stated, “There will be celebrations and events for one year celebrating the legacy of V.O.C.
A request has been made to the chief minister for placing a statue of V.O.C and various places will be named after him in the Coimbatore region.
The Chidambaram Assembly has placed a request to name the Nanjappa Road, Coimbatore after him and flyover in Coimbatore”.
He later urged the public to cooperate and follow the restrictions imposed, especially on weekends to control the spread of Covid.
District Collector Sameeran, Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan, DIG Shanmugasundaram, Jail Superintendent Senthamarai Kannan and DMK in-charge N. Karthik were present.
