Steps taken ahead of rising covid situation
Coimbatore: The district corporation of Coimbatore has scrutinized its checking hands as the city is witnessing a slow rise in new cases of Covid. The neighboring state, Kerala is reporting 30000+ cases on a daily basis.
Bus Stands, Railway stations have escalated checking for those arriving into the city from other states. Coimbatore, being the neighbor district of Kerala, has huge chances of getting affected if the third wave blows up.
The corporation and the Health Department has thus directed to intensify checking within the city and those arriving from other districts and states are tested for Covid at the bus terminals and railway stations.
A Health Officer stated that “The number of tests conducted until last week was around 5000. We have increased the testing number to 6 to 7000, as schools and colleges are resumed now. Also, anybody who is in need of a test is welcome and we have intensified checking in all the areas in the city”
