A youth working in Sriram Engineering company in Periyanaickenpalayam tried to self-immolate at District Collector's office as he was not paid his salary.
Coimbatore: In Coimbatore today, a youth tried to self immolate at the District Collector's Office in frustration of not getting paid has caused a stir in the area.
Kumaraswamy is from Tirunelveli district. He said he was working for Sriram Engineering Company near Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore and had been stressed for the past few months and had tried to self immolate in front of the Coimbatore District Collector's Office with 5 liters of diesel.
The incident was averted as the police immediately arrested him and confiscated the diesel he had. When they interrogated him, he told the police that he was not paid his salary and it was causing him depression and anxiety.
Police took the youth in a jeep to the Racecourse Police Station. The incident has caused a stir at the Coimbatore District Collector's Office
