DMK’s Environment Group Secretary of the State pays tribute and initiates planting of 1 lakh palm seeds

Coimbatore: Anitha, a name most would not forget, a student who died by suicide after her failure in NEET was commemorated today as her 4th-year death anniversary was observed on the 1st of September.

DMK Environment Group secretary, Karthikeya Sivasenapthy paid tribute at the Library constructed after her and inaugurated the planting of 1 Lakh Palm seeds.

In a press release issued by him, he said,

“I attended the fourth-anniversary commemoration of Anita, a protest against NEET in Tamil Nadu. Anita hails from Kulumur near Senthurai in the Ariyalur district.Anita's father, brother Munirathnam and sister Priyanka were present.

Public Works Department officials, environmentalists, and hundreds of club members were also present. The Hon’ble Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, Sivashankar could not attend.

I paid tribute to her statue in the library built in her memory. We pledged to prevent any such mishaps in Tamil Nadu due to NEET.

NEET has been a barrier to most kids’ ambition to become doctors in TN, which was supported by the previous government. The ruling party now however are on the efforts to prohibit NEET in TN”

He further stated that, “At present, lakes and ponds in and around Kolumur are in the rehabilitation process. I have inaugurated the planting of 1 lakh palm seeds on the banks of these lakes. I extend my complete support to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, who is ardently working on schemes and measures to protect the environment.

33% of the land should be forests. To make that happen, permissions should be obtained from the collector and district administration in case of cutting trees, a committee to monitor the felling of trees in the district, and in public places cancellation of Salem-Chennai 8 way road, etc, have been successful in just 100 days of his regime. I, thusurge everyone to join hands to support the Hon’ble Chief Minister”
