District Collector orders for halt of the SBI Loan Mela and all the halls were evacuated.
Coimbatore:The State Bank of India (SBI) conducted a loan mela in Coimbatore on Friday in over 20 halls, without obtaining proper permission from the district administration. District Collector G S Sameeran ordered for an immediate cessation of the event.
The Coimbatore District Collector had extended the curfew in the city until September 15 with a new set of revisions owing to the rise in Covid cases in the city. According to the guidelines, any public event conducted needs to have proper permission obtained from the district administration prior to the event.
However, SBI hosted a Loan Mela at the branch near the Collector’s office without obtaining any kind of permission.
The Collector intervened and ordered that the event be halted immediately. Police officials ordered for all the halls meant for the event to be vacated. SBI had advertised about the Loan Mela in the newspapers as well.
