After a ban on tourists due to Covid-19, tourists will now be allowed into Kovai Courtallam in batches of 150 per batch for short periods of time.
Coimbatore: According to a press release issued by the Coimbatore Forest Department, tourists were not allowed to visit Kovai Courtallam from August 6, due to curfew that was imposed to curb Covid-19.
Tourists who now wish to visit Kovai Courtallam will have to register at http://coimbatore wilderness.com and contact 7826070883 for special permission. Only 150 people per batch are allowed to visit Kovai Courtallam from 9 am to 9.30 am and will be evacuated from the spot at 11am.
From 10.30 am to 11 am, another batch of 150 people will be allowed in and evacuated at 1 pm. This will be followed by another batch of 150 persons from 12 noon to 12:30 pm, with the evacuation for this batch at 2.30 pm. Thereafter, another batch of 150 people will be allowed in from 1.30 pm to 2 pm and will be evacuated at 4 pm.
Similarly, out of three resorts in the Karamadai Poocham eco-tourism area, only 12 tourists will be allowed to stay in the resorts, with four people per resort.
