Hindu Munnani protested in Tirupur on Thursday by staging a road roko against the Tamil Nadu Government's ban on worshiping Vinayagar in public on Ganesha Chaturthi
Tirupur: Keeping in mind the need to prevent further incidences of Covid-19 spreading among crowds, the Tamil Nadu Government has banned the placing of Vinayagar statues in public places during Vinayagar Chaturthi festival on September 10.
Protesting against this ban, the Hindu Munnani worshipped on Thursday at temples in various parts of Tirupur district in protest against the Tamil Nadu Government's ban.
In a protest led by the Hindu Munnani state leader Kadeswara Subramaniam at the Vinayagar temple near Tirupur Corporation, women slammed the Tamil Nadu government for banning Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations in public places.
The Hindu Munnani also staged a road roko.
Kadeswara Subramaniam, who met reporters as part of the protest, said the Tamil Nadu government was working to ban Hindu festivals and that the Hindu people would never accept this. He also said that worship is being conducted in temples to give good sense to the Tamil Nadu government. He also said that Vinayagar idols would be worshiped at more than 1.25 lakh places as planned on September 10 and the Tamil Nadu government should immediately call the Hindu Munnani and hold talks to declare a series of protests if the ban on Vinayagar Chaturthi was not lifted.
Similarly, Hindu leaders in various parts of Tirupur, including the town hall and Pushpa Roundabout, staged protests with Vinayagar statues in their hands and disguised as Vinayagar.
