The U.S. Consul General based in Chennai, Judith Ravin visits Coimbatore to meet Chamber members and reiterates America's strong ties with Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: In an interaction with the members of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore (ICCIC) members, the U.S. Consulate General based in Chennai, Judith Ravin reiterated America's strong ties with Coimbatore, a tier-two industrial, education and healthcare hub of Tamil Nadu.
C G Ravin spoke at an 'Accessing the U.S. Market" seminar hosted by ICCIC during her first visit to Coimbatore on Wednesday, September 1. Some key topics discussed at the seminar included the types of business establishments in the United States, how to register a company in the U.S, and regulatory and tax considerations.
Talking about the U.S-India commercial relationship, Judith Ravin said: "The United States is India's top export market and remains one of the top sources of foreign direct investment to India. Over more than a decade, Indian firms have also expanded into the U.S., taking advantage of a large, open market with business-friendly investor policies. We have seen significant growth in our bilateral trade and investment relationship over the years but there is much more potential. My team and I are in Coimbatore to build on that potential in partnership with Coimbatore's business community."
In his welcome address, C Balasubramanian, President, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, said: "The Chamber has been serving the cause of trade and industry for more than nine decades and it has 1,660 members representing various segments. These industries work in diverse areas, including manufacture of pump sets, automobile components, textiles, machineries, jewellery, education, and healthcare. Coimbatore is a city driven by private enterprises and over 50,000 SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) are located here. This session will certainly help our members to do business activities with the U.S. for mutual benefit," he added. Balasubramanian also thanked the U.S. Consulate General, Chennai for organizing the seminar jointly with the Chamber at Coimbatore for the benefit of industries.
