440 arrested in Coimbatore for breaking Covid-19 protocols


Coimbatore:Mild agitations and protests erupted in various places across Tamil Nadu after the Bill for merger of the Dr. Jayalalitha University was passed at the Assembly on Tuesday.

AIADMK members in Coimbatore protested against the Bill on Wednesday at R S Puram, Variety Hall Road, Ramanathapuram, Racecourse and a few other places. About 440 AIADMK members were arrested for breaking Covid safety protocols and being involved in protests without proper permission in Coimbatore.

The opposition party had walked out of the Assembly on Tuesday, to show that they were opposing the Bill.
