"The Government of Tamil Nadu acts in partisan against Hindus and we will protest against the banning of Vinayagar Chaturthi festival being celebrated in public places:" Coimbatore District Hindu Munnani organization
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Hindu Munnani organization has alleged that the Tamil Nadu Government is acting in partisan against Hindus and that Vinayagar Chaturthi will be celebrated in spite of the ban.
A press conference was held at the Hindu Munnani District headquarters in Coimbatore. The Hindu Munnani state leader, Kadeswara Subramaniam who presided over the media briefing said, "We will appeal to the Lord in all the temples on September 2. It will then continue as a protest. The ban on Vinayagar Chaturthi which has been celebrated in Tamil Nadu since the 1980s blaming Covid-19 is the Government's planned plot and is condemnable.
We are going to set up and worship Vinayagar in about 1,25,000 lakh places. Even though the Coronavirus spread was high last year, the Hindu Munnani observed various preventive measures and celebrated in a special way. There was no outbreak of infection as a result of the celebrations."
"As the second wave of Covid infections subsided, more and more people were also vaccinated. However, the Tamil Nadu Government is hostile and bans only Hindu festivals. Since the rule of Kalaignar, the Government celebrates Muslim and Christian festivals along with their communities. However, the DMK government continues to ban only Hindu festivals. In the last few days Bakrid celebrations of Muslims took place and a large number of people gathered in the middle of the road without following social distancing. Neither the Government nor the authorities have imposed any restrictions. Similarly, an elaborate festival for 10 days was held at the Thoothukudi Panimatha Church of the Christians. The Government declared a local holiday for the district.
The TN Government did not notice the many Christian festivals that were held in many places. However, the Hindus were forbidden to worship on Aadi Pooram and to perform puja for ancestors. Also various other festivals that take place every month in several temples were cancelled. Schools, cinema theaters, parks and swimming pools are being opened since the Covid-19 infection has reduced in Tamil Nadu. Hence, banning the celebration of Vinayagar Chaturthi is completely anti-Hindu," alleged Kadeswara Subramaniam.
"Last year, the Government sought the views of all religious organizations and spiritual elders on how to conduct the Vinayagar Chaturthi festival. The ceremony was held with some restraint. But the DMK government's declaration of dictatorship without consulting spiritual elders is reminiscent of the tyrannical Aurangzeb regime. The Government has announced that all Hindus can worship at home. This alone is enough to show that this Government aims to destroy our culture. It also said that if the worshippers bring Vinayagar to their homes and place it on the temple walls and on the temple premises, the treasury will dispose of it.
Is Vinayagar a garbage to dispose? This is a move that will destabilize the faith of Hindus. This Government is suppressing the people's right to worship. Therefore, people will appeal to the Lord in all the temples in Tamil Nadu on Thursday, September 2 to condemn the anti-Hindu act of banning the Vinayagar Chaturthi festival. The Government should immediately lift the ban on the Vinayagar Chaturthi festival celebrations and pave the way for people to celebrate the festival with social distancing norms in place."
The Secretary of State, J S Kishore Kumar, Coimbatore Divisional Secretary, S Satish, District Chairman, K Dasarathan, District Spokesperson, C Dhanapal and other district officials were also present at the media briefing.
