5 kg ganja and Rs. 1 lakh cash seized by Coimbatore Police from drug peddlers arested in the city.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore Police confiscated 5 kg of ganja and Rs. 1,10,000 cash from drug peddlers aiming to sell drugs illegally in the city.
Of late, Coimbatore has been gaining the dubious reputation of being a den for drug dealers, considering the large number of cases being reported and police raiding hotspots resulting in drug hauls. Strict action is being taken against drug traffickers on behalf of the District Police Department in Coimbatore.
The police received a tip-off that Mandus Kumar of Jharkhand was illegally hoarding and peddling ganja in the Housing Unit area in Periyanaickenpalayam. The police team on the orders of District SP, S Selvanagarathinam and under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Periyanaickenpalayam, Rajapandian, arrested Mandus Kumar and seized 5 kg ganja and Rs. 1, 10,000 in cash from him. Inspector Kannan from the Periyanaickenpalayam Police Station registered a case against Mandus Kumar.
Sub-Inspector of Police, Tilak and the police team who conducted the investigation of the case were felicitated at the District Office on Tuesday and lauded by the District Superintendent of Police in Coimbatore who also awarded a certificate of appreciation to them. SP Selvanagarathinam congratulated the police officers for acting promptly to nab the culprits. He also stated that anyone can contact through the WhatsApp number 7708100100 to tip the police off on those involved in illegal activities.
