The protest opposed the merger of Dr.Jayalaitha University with Annamalai University
Valparai: the opposition party members undertook a protest in Valparai today after the ruling party passed a merger bill in the assembly.
The Government of Tamil Nadu passed a bill today at the assembly stating that the Dr.Jayalalitha University in Vizhupuram will be annexed with the Anna University. The opposition party expressed their non-acceptance of the bill and walked out of the meeting. They gathered at the Valaja Road Chennai and started protesting against the bill. The protest was led by Deputy party leader OPS.
The protestors were later arrested which stirred outrage all over the state and AIADMK members across the state started protesting against the bill and the arrest of their party members in Chennai.
They stated that the ruling party is simply taking revenge on AIADMK. District sub-secretary Pon Ganesan headed the protest.
